Welcome to Seaton Restoration
We are a small family run business that offers a high quality restoration and repair service for antique, reproduction and modern furniture. We also offer the same high quality in our traditional and modern upholstery service and David can in addition, provide on-site tuition in wood carving, wood turning chair caning and rushing in modern materials.
David, a former aircraft engineer, has run Seaton Restoration from his workshop in the Yorkshire Dales since 2001, following his graduation from Leeds College of Art and Design, with a HND in Antique furniture restoration. David is also a teacher of restoration and upholstery and works in Colleges throughout North Yorkshire.
The firm is equipped with a wide range of skills and a wealth of experience gained from working on a diverse range of projects ranging from a 16C oak bed to a set of 6 Ikea dining chairs that needed extra back support. Recently, David has had the opportunity to restore some 17c oak furniture: replacing broken iron work, sourcing old timber, waxing and distressing.
